Winter Update

The current temperature is -25 degrees Fahrenheit (with windchill) and school has been cancelled the past two days, so I thought I would take some time for a Timeshare winter update. The deer hunting season was very cold and windy and the only thing to shoot deer was the trail cameras we have set up. However the last day of gun season I did see seven deer on the last drive from the observation deck. We need to clear out some brush though for a better shooting window. After deer hunting the timeshare has been home to a couple of GREAT sledding parties. While sledding and snowman building are fun I am definitely looking forward to camping and fishing again this spring.

Frying and Smoking and a late night SURPRISE!

Catfish Before and After...
Smoked to perfection by Russ Wruck and complimented by delicious fried onion rings and some freshly caught fried walleye. (Yes there are walleye in the Pecatonica!)

The families made it down to the timeshare for an awesome time picnicking and playing. Thankfully the weather was much nicer than last time and everyone had a great time. The wives left a little earlier than men did, and we would have made it home by midnight as promised....
but as we were reeling in the last pole, there was something a little fishy about it. Well actually it was not fishy at all, but a big snapper.
The Timeshare is always an ADVENTURE!

Fish ON!

Making memories at the timeshare...
A great night of catfishing and camping at the timeshare. We definitely reeled in enough catfish to fill up the smoker even with Corey letting one escape back to the river!

Updates at the Timeshare!

A few more additions have been added to the Pecatonica Timeshare this week. First a beautiful sign made by Jeff Crase. Second, a homemade live-well and fishing pier which was constructed by Jake and Jeff. Although the only one to get wet in the construction was Jake. (someone had to pound the posts in the water). And lastly a Leopold Bench constructed by Jeff to enjoy the beautiful views.

Sonny's = Catfish

Saturday night the timeshare was visited by two men (Jake and Corey) on a mission and that mission was..... Catching monster catfish! With a little help from Sonny's that mission was accomplished. Well at least mostly accomplished, we caught 5 catfish which is hopefully enough to talk Russ Wruck into firing up his smoker again. Thanks again to Corey for all his expertise. Can't wait to get back out there again.
The bait Catfish can't resist!

We're Camping!

The first camping trip of the summer at the Timeshare was a huge success. The legend of the timeshare begins with Russ, Rusty, Corey, Isaiah, Jake and JJ. The women and younger children did join us for supper but went home to air conditioning instead of braving the Great Outdoors with the Manly Men! We ate, fished, played cribbage, fished some more, and ate some more, all while enjoying the wonders of God's creation all around us and the beauty of the night sky above us. The biggest fish of the night goes to Corey for his monster Catfish with an assist to Isaiah. The next prize was the highly contested award for worst cast/snag but it was too close to call. Russ does take home the campfire cook award though for his delicious breakfast and amazing grilling ability. Thanks for making the first camping trip a memorable one! Can't wait to do it again soon.
